Wombat's Den is a secluded bush retreat in Gembrook, a little over an hour from Melbourne. It is a place to step away from the noise and settle into a slower rhythm. Sleep in. Wander under the gums. Let the quiet do most of the talking. It's an adults-only kind of place, if that matters to you.
Be first in the Den ↓The property stretches across 35 acres of fern gullies, towering stringybarks, open bushland and quiet pockets where the outside world quickly falls away. A spring-fed creek winds through the valley, while more than 100 species of birds have been recorded among the trees, including the resident family of Superb Lyrebirds. Swamp wallabies move quietly through the property, kangaroos visit the open ground and, after dark, wombats emerge from the bush.
Follow the property trails through the bush and down towards the creek, or experience it all from the comfort of your cabin deck. Nearby, our native food garden is taking shape, bringing together edible plants, local flavours and another reason to slow down and look a little closer. However you spend your time here, Melbourne soon feels comfortably far away.

Opening onto a garden of its namesake plants, Banksia is an intimate one-bedroom cabin for two. Light the fire, settle onto the porch or unwind in the spa bath after a day spent exploring, or doing very little at all.
